Plant Love: Watering Guide
Learn how to give your succulent babes just the right amount of water.
At Arium Studio we only work with succulents. Succulents are easy to take care of if you provide them with enough love consisting of sun and water. Our watering guide will ensure your succulent babes get the right amount of water to stay healthy. Each plant purchased will come with a Plant Love card to remind you of your plant's needs. If you have misplaced your card, you can email us any time!
Amount of Water
Most of our plants are small, so to avoid drowning your succulent we recommend giving it very little water. 1-3 plastic water bottle caps is sufficient. Too much water will increase the chances of root rot.
Tip: Pour the water slowly directly underneath the plant so it gets right into its root. Do not spray or pour onto the plants as succulents have pockets that can hold water which can cause root rot.
Always, always, always make sure the soil is completely dry before watering. If the soil is too damp, the roots will rot and your succulent won't be happy. It's almost better to let your plant be completely dry for a few days than it to be soaked in water.
Tip: To check, gently stick a toothpick directly underneath the plant and wait a few minutes. Gently pull out the toothpick and if there are signs of moist soil, hold off on watering.
All of our terrarium and planters are planted with a drainage system even if some might not show a drainage hole. We believe in minimal designs but also functionality.
Tip: Geometric terrariums may have holes at the bottom edges. When watering, we suggest laying down a small towel underneath to catch any excess water when watering your plants.
